In the A58 south of our former village stands an old, big tree in between the tracks of the highway. This tree does have space around it, although it is getting tricky by now with the roots spreading out and its big crown.
At the beginning of ‘our’ dead end road there is also a tree in the middle of the road. But this one does not have space around it. The concrete almost covers it’s feet. The advantage of a tree in the middle of a road is that drivers have to slow down. The disadvantage of course being that turning on to the main road is more difficult.
